FAIRFIELD, N.J. (November 19, 2001) -- With winter test programs fast approaching the U.S. F2000 National Championship recently continued its evaluation of the 2.0-liter Ford Zetec engine.

The series conducted an extensive one-day test at Roebling Road in Savannah, Georgia, with drivers Jeffrey Jones and Bryan Sellers. The duo drove Van Diemen RF01's with both the Zetec and Pinto engine packages, gathering and comparing information. The test proved to be an outstanding success. With Jones driving the majority of the test, the Zetec powered car completed over 160 laps without incident, and inspired both the drivers and team members present.

"I was very impressed," said Jones, who contested the British Formula 3 Championship in 2001. "The engine proved to very driveable and extremely reliable, given we did so many laps without any problems. I believe that the Zetec engine combined with a Formula 2000 chassis makes for very exciting package."

"I really enjoyed driving the Zetec," said Sellers, who recently was awarded the prestigious Team USA Scholarship. "Driving the Zetec and Pinto back-to-back you really get a feel for how responsive and smooth the Zetec engine is. I think everyone who gets to drive one will be impressed. I know I'm looking forward to the next time I get to drive one."

The U.S. F2000 National Championship will conduct a series sanctioned winter test December 11-13, 2001, at Roebling Road in Savannah, Georgia, with numerous teams and drivers attending.
