Fontana, CA (February 16, 2004) -- Former go kart racer and now Formula 2000 Series driver, Wade Van Hooser of Tulare, CA opened the 2004 SEE YA PACIFIC F2000 Series season with a win in the seat of his new #77 SHIFT Formula 2000. Competing at the beautiful California Speedway, the first race of the season combined the fast straightaway speeds plus a challenging road course in conjunction with the VARA (Vintage Auto Racing Association) Series for the weekend.

Qualifying earlier in the week for the Saturday race, Van Hooser was bumped from a fast time pole position by his PR1 Motorsport's teammate, Joel Miller, positioning Van Hooser off pole for his first race in a Formula 2000 ride. Van Hooser dropped to third during the race continuously scouting out his chances for second. On the final lap after calculating what it would take to grip second place position, Van Hooser passed for second entering the road course portion of the track only to be passed back after a rookie miscalculation in gearing relinquished the series new comer to third heading to the finish line.

Day 2 (Sunday) positioned Van Hooser on the pole (141.16) for the start of the race. Increasing his distance from the rest of the pack without ever a challenge by the other 24 competitors, Van Hooser advanced his lead (5.466) by almost half a straightaway crossing the finish line (track record 1:39.907) in his #77 SHIFT Formula 2000 car for his first win.

Van Hooser joins a talented fistful of drivers on the PR1 Motorsports team for 2004 hoping to expand his experience while adding wins to his racing resume. Van Hooser is very honored to be considered by PR1 Motorsports owner and manager, Bobby Oergel, who takes pride in his driver development team based in Fresno, CA.

If the #77 sounds familiar, Van Hooser comes from a karting background with such accolades as 3-time Grand National Champion, 6-time IKF CA State Champion, 9-time IKF Region 7 Champion, Super National Champion, SKUSA "Young Driver of the Year" and No. 2, 3, 4 and 5 SKUSA Champion Plate Holder.

Van Hooser and PR1 Motorsports head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway March 13-14 for Round 2, racing again with VARA..
