FAIIRFIELD, N.J. (February 29, 2000)--Peter Walsh, of Cork, Ireland, has signed with 1999 U.S. F2000 National Championship Presented by Speedvision runner-up Key Motorsports to contest the 2000 season. Walsh comes to North America after a successful year in Europe where he won the Benelux (Belgium/Netherlands/Luxembourg) FF1800 Championship. The Championship was the first-ever by an Irishman in mainland Europe. Key Motorsports, which has switched from Mangov engines to Quicksilver engines for 2000, hopes Walsh can emulate 1999 Championship runner-up Marc-Antoine Camirand by winning the the March 19 season-opener at Phoenix International Raceway. Currently, Walsh is training for the upcoming season by racing karts in Ireland.
