FAIRFIELD, N.J. (March 16, 2000) -- The U.S. F2000 National Championship Presented by Speedvision has announced a revised 13-race 2000 Schedule including the Night Before F1 at Indianapolis Raceway Park and American Le Mans Series Weekend at Mosport International Raceway.

August 4-6, the U.S. F2000 returns to Mosport International Raceway for the American Le Mans Series weekend. The weekend is currently a single-race event, with the possibility of becoming a doubleheader. The second trip to Mosport in 2000 replaces the Miller Lite 200 event at Mid-Ohio, which was removed from the schedule when negotiations with the track broke off.

The Night Before F1 at Indianapolis Raceway Park, September 22-23, replaces the Radisson Indy 200 at Pikes Peak International Raceway on the 2000 schedule. The return trip to Indianapolis Raceway Park in 2000 will be the final round of the Oval Crown Championship, and will be run in conjunction with the American Speed Association stock car series.

"We're pleased to add these fantastic events to the 2000 schedule," said Dan Andersen, Co-Owner of the U.S. F2000 National Championship. "The Night before F1 at IRP presented itself, and we took it. The opportunity to be linked with the excitement of Formula 1's return to the United States after a nine-year absence, combined with the opportunity to showcase the series to a large, enthusiastic crowd, made it too good to pass up. Unfortunately, the addition of IRP forced us to drop our remaining oval event at Pikes Peak.

"Returning to Mosport was a logical decision to replace Mid-Ohio, given the teams are already in Canada for Trois-Rivieres, and running with ALMS ensures a great fan turnout and TV coverage. While we're disappointed we won 't be running at Pikes Peak and Mid-Ohio in 2000, the revised schedule will feature premier motorsport events on the best tracks North America has to offer."
