ANN ARBOR, MI -- After a promising run in the SCCA June Sprints at Road America, Dana LaLiberte returns to competition this weekend in the SCCA Indy Grand Prix in his Dana LaLiberte Motorsports Van Diemen Formula Ford 2000.

LaLiberte, a 24-year-old driver from Ann Arbor, MI and Kalamazoo, MI, continues to rebuild his season after seriously damaging his car at the US Formula Ford 2000 National Championship season opener in January at the Walt Disney World Motor Speedway. Although the team has rebuilt the car, and has been competitive in the previous two SCCA national races at Mid-Ohio and Road America in Wisconsin, the string of bad luck that started in January has kept LaLiberte from the winners circle.

"At Mid-Ohio, we were on the way to a good top-ten finish when the battery broke. We were lucky just to finish that race," recalls LaLiberte. "Road Americas weather basically got us. I didn't have a good qualifying lap on Friday, but I was still working on setting up the car. After Fridays qualifying I made some changes on the car, and was ready to put my neck out to get the pole. Then the track flooded Friday night, and all of Saturday's events were cancelled. They had to shorten the race almost by half on Sunday to accomodate for everything that was supposed to take place on Saturday, except for the second round of qualifying, of course. I just ran out of laps in the race. I was making progress, and actually ran a lap during the race that would have qualified us seventh, but I didn't have enough time to pass everybody."

LaLiberte hopes to return to his winning ways during Sunday's Indy Grand Prix at the Indianapolis Raceway Park. Practice is Friday, with qualifying being held Saturday on the 15-turn road course.
