Trois Rivieres, Quebec / July 29, 2000 - Eighteen-year-old Billy Asaro of Unionville, Ontario, will start eleventh in this afternoon's USF2000 race at the Player's Grand Prix of Trois Rivieres. The second of two qualifying sessions was held this morning and Asaro's time of 1m 7.636s represented an average speed of 128.6km/h (80.4 mph) around the temporary street circuit.

In yesterday's preliminary session, Billy held third on the grid before clipping the wall at the mid point of the half-hour qualifying period.

"It was my fault," said the young Indeck/Forsythe driver, "I pushed too hard and caught the wall."

Damage to the car was light, but Asaro was sidelined for the remainder of the session and could do nothing more than watch as the track sped up and his time dropped to eighth.

Today, Billy ran with a different set up, but it didn't boost his speed. While several drivers shaved the better part of a second from yesterday's times, Billy was able to make only a marginal improvement and fell a further three positions to eleventh.

"We tried a change, but we went the wrong way," Billy reflected. "We're going to change back for the race and I'll just try to work forward as much as possible. It's going to be tough because these temporary tracks make passing really difficult. Hopefully, with a good start and a couple of passes during the race, I can get the Forsythe/Indeck car into the top five."
