SONOMA, CALIF. (March 16, 2000) -- Aspiring racers can put their racing careers in the fast lane by participating in the 2000 Russell/USAC Triple Crown Pro Series, presented by Jim Russell Racing Drivers School and Yokohama Tire Company. The three-race arrive and drive series was designed to assist aspiring racers in moving into F2000 and up the motorsports ladder. Dates for the series are June 24, during the NASCAR Save Mart/Kragen 350 at Sears Point Raceway; July 23, with the American Le Mans Series Grand Prix of Sonoma at Sears Point; and September 2, supporting the Team Continental Sports Cars Series at Thunderhill Raceway Park in Willows, California. Over $7,500 in cash awards will be paid at each event, with $4,000 going to each race winner. The Series champion will receive two US F2000 races at the Petite Le Mans event at Road Atlanta on September 20 with a Speedvision in-car camera, plus two test days prior to the event and $10,000 cash. Cost to enter the 2000 Russell/USAC Triple Crown Pro Series is $11,850, which includes the car, crew, limited liability for accident damage, track fees, gas and tires. Optional practice days are additional and based upon availability.
