"Pace Setter" Siedler eliminated, Caliendo scores first points in Formula Master Brands Hatch
ADM Motorsport is back on the overtaking lane even if Norbert Siedler, as a commanding leader on Saturday, had to retire. Michele Caliendo finished 7th in race one to achieve his first points in Formula Master, while rookie Tomas Pivoda continued his learning process.
Renato Melchioretto (Team Principal): "Somebody denied us the first win in Formula Master this season, but at least we could demonstrate our competitiveness which was quite a relief for the entire team. Norbert made a terrific start to race one taking the lead in the opening lap and nobody could keep his pace. Another highlight of the weekend was the fact that Michele finished 7th on Saturday. A well deserved result that shows how hard work pays off. In race two he was even on course to a fantastic third place until he went off the track and lost 6 positions. Last but not least our rookie driver Tomas Pivoda experienced a difficult weekend, as he had to learn the Grand Prix track in qualifying, with the free practice being held on the short circuit. Anyway, he made the best of it, avoiding any mistakes and posting some good laps times in the final period of race one. I am quite optimistic for the upcoming events in Oschersleben and Imola."
Norbert Siedler (car # 17, out/P10): "I don't leave Brands in a bad mood as I was able to post the fastest race lap of the weekend and the way that I was leading race 1 was quite satisfying. Speaking about my retirement I could do nothing to avoid it, as Salaquarda collided with Afanasiev after a pace car period and hit my car. Starting from the back in race two I damaged my front wing after Schlegelmilch had closed the door so under these circumstances P10 was the maximum."
Michele Caliendo (car #21. P7/P9): "Despite this little mistake today, it was a very good race weekend for me and extremely motivating for the future. As said before, we have a very positive spirit within the team and Norbert has become a very good friend who doesn't hesitate to support me with his experience. I hope that I can keep the momentum and add another strong result in Oschersleben."
Tomas Pivoda (car # 16, P12/P16): "The race weekend started with an excursion to the Honda F1 factory where team principle Ross Brawn explained to us what he expected from drivers on the highest level of single-seater racing. It shows that Formula Master is a highly rated category and that it is good to be here. The mission in Brands Hatch was quite difficult for me, but with a testing day prior to the next race I should make some progress in Germany."
