For the fourth race of the Italian Formula 3 Championship, both Imola Racing who competed on their home track and Giacomo Piccini who finished in a well deserved second place, celebrated this finish together with the technicians.
The weekend started off well on Friday and Saturday with Giacomo Piccini finishing in the first few positions during the free practice session and the qualifications. During the first session on Saturday, Piccini wasn't able to get beyond the seventh place. But after making some significant changes to the car, Giacomo managed to gain the third place on the starting grid. During the race, thanks to a brilliant start, Piccini conquered the second place which guaranteed his second time on the podium this season.
It was a very satisfying weekend which ended great on a track which isn't too far from the team's head office. We worked really well right form the start on Friday with the free practice session and we worked intensely on the car. We managed to find the right compromise during the second session of the qualifications which lead us to be in third place. During the race, a great start guaranteed the second position which I had to defend from Montanari during the first few laps. However,I realized that I didn't have enough speed to catch up to Bonanomi so I preferred to keep the second position. Moreover, due to the track conditions and to the heat ,the car was really difficult to drive. This second place makes me really happy .Above all it repays all the efforts made by the team on their home track.

What can I say, I'm happy to have conquered the second place right here in Imola in front of our supporters .Giacomo has proven to be a very fast and technical driver. In just his fourth experience in Formula 3, he has won two second positions in the two races where he didn't have any technical problems. In fact, in Misano, Giacomo had to retire due to a contact and in Magione he finished in eighth place with a bent wing. Furthermore, here in Imola, he managed to get in between the two Lolas of Bonamoni and Montanari which thanks to their powerful Honda engine have proven to be at ease on fast tracks. I therefore thank Giacomo and all the team for giving us this splendid second place right on our home track.
