In Misano two withdrawals don't wipe out noteworthy results for Coloni Motorsport.
The first date of the Italian F.3 Championship ended up with a positive balance for Coloni Motorsport, although some troubles in the race.
Marco Bonanomi and Christian Montanari in fact couldn't complete the Sunday race, but the signals received during the date in Misano are clear and show that Coloni Motorsport is working in the right way for the car development, a car which continues to improve in constant and visible manner.
Bonanomi, started from the 7th place, on the first lap --in order to avoid Doornbos' car still in the middle of track- had to brake too hard, losing the control and skidding; then he was hit by Piccini, falling back. On the sixth lap, while pushing to catch up, Bonanomi went out on the last corner.
The whole team will now back immediately at work to continue the development of the Lola-Dome F106/03, before the next date in Binetto (I), where Coloni Motorsport expects good results.
C. Montanari , driver:
"Misano date began not so well, because of some car troubles (it's normal for a single-seater at his first race) which prevented us from running in the Friday free practice. But from the second session of qualifying we started to get really better and the warm-up too was good. The race started very good but towards end I'd to give up for a suspension problem. However I'm trusting for Binetto, all the team worked hard, we will catch up with other teams"
M. Bonanomi , driver:
"In spite of what happened Sunday, I'm happy with my F.3 debut. In the Tramonto corner I'd to avoid Doornbos' car so I braked hard and I skidded. Piccini hit me and I lose many positions. I had to push to rise trough the field, but I made a mistake on the sixth lap and I went out. We expect to see car's future development, I'm sure that improving the car will also help me to get better, especially during the race".
Enzo Coloni , Coloni Motorsport:
"We're satisfied with the qualify results, five tenths from the pole at the first race, and a such result, for a car which almost didn't tested before, is not too bad. We were a bit unlucky with Montanari and Bonanomi, but we must still work a lot on the car. Starting from Monday, we will back immediately at work on the F106/03".
