Coloni Motorsport in the Italian F3 Championship with Marco Bonanomi and Christian Montanari.
Coloni Motorsport, the Italian team with the greatest number of victories in F3 (four Italian Championships won and two European too), will participate in the 2003 Italian F3 Championship with two of the best talents of the Italian Motorsport scene, Marco Bonanomi (I) and Christian Montanari (SM). After having showed good performances in the Italian F.Renault 2000 series thanks to their excellent driving skills, the two young drivers were chosen by Coloni also for their way of working on track, really professional although their age.
Coloni Motorsport will line up the new and expected LOLA-DOME F106/03: the prestigious Huntingdon factory, together with Japanese Dome, after the great successes obtained in F.Cart and in International F3000, chose Coloni to achieve important and prestigious goals in F3 too. The Italian team will busy himself with the development of the new single-seater, while Lola-Dome will provide his technical know-how and will support Coloni's Italian F3 programme. The engine too comes from the Far East: Mugen-Honda in fact is the Coloni's choice. So the Italian team will be the only one -outside Japan- which will have a frame & engine package entirely "made in Japan" that presents himself as the best available at the moment.
Coloni Motorsport chose F3 for his high formative value, a championship which lines up high technical level cars, really selective. Since her birth, F3 is the most successful preliminary series in the world-level Motorsport, allowing the drivers to grow from the technical point of view, due to the great work on the car's setup, unlike of what happens in other minor series.
Coloni, historical International F3000 team and constructor in F1 from 1987 until 1991, chose F3 also for the opportunity, reserved for the winner, of obtaining the F.I.A. F1 Superlicense and for the support provided to the Italian Championship by ACI Sport and ACI-CSAI Motorsport, ended successfully the experience as constructor in the Formula Nissan Championship --a car conceived, projected and realized by Coloni exploiting the knowledge achieved thanks to the Superformula- will utilize all his staff and his technical know-how for the development of this new project with the same zeal, strength and preparation that brought to success the previous programme and above all with the same will of obtaining important results.
Coloni Motorsport wants to thank Lola-Dome for the trust showed and for the technical support provided to the F3 programme. The team will work hard to achieve important results and win this new and ambitious challenge which aims to help young Italian drivers and to increase their skills.
Enzo Coloni , Coloni Motorsport: "Coloni Motorsport is extremely happy of being present again in the Italian F3 Championship with a high-level programme which enjoys the official Lola-Dome support and the cooperation of a prestigious factory, Mugen-Honda. For Coloni Motorsport the Italian F3 Championship was the "proving ground" that gave us the first successes with drivers like Ivan Capelli, Nicola Larini and Alex Caffi and with Paolo Coloni. We're also very glad of having two young Italian talents and we hope to achieve important results together. The whole team will work very hard for the F3 programme, considered the high technical level of our opponents".
Christian Montanari , Driver: "I'm very glad with the agreement with Coloni Motorsport: I firmly believe in Coloni. Formula 3 is a really formative Championship and I'm sure that with this team I will be able to have a wonderful 2003 season. I believe in the choice I made, I know that this choice will be positive for me and my future".
Marco Bonanomi , Driver: "I'm confident for the next championship and I'm very happy of this agreement with Coloni Motorsport; I hope for good results in 2003 and I would like to fight for the final victory. I'll work hard together with the team and we have some data that comfort us about the new Lola-Dome F106/03 competitiveness, which is getting optimal results in the tests in Japan".
