Round 12 - Result - Nurburgring
9th July 2000

After 2 poles and 2 second places this season, Ulsterman Derek Hayes has finally taken the final step onto the top step of the podium. As the lights went green for the rolling start, all three Team Brask cars were involved in an incident which saw Allan Simonsen and Jacky Van Der Ende out of the race and Jesper Carlsen continue with a damaged rear wing.

Robbie Kerr got ahead of Damien Faulkner at the start but found himself pointing the wrong way after Faulkner attempted an overtaking manoeuvre at the Weedol Chicane. Hayes inherited the lead and dominated the rest of the race, pulling away from Faulkner who continued in second place after the incident with Kerr. In the junior class Bruce Jouanny was once again up with the senior class leaders, with Christian Hohenadel also having a great battle with Bruno Besson back in 6th. The best battle of the race was at the back of the field with Paul Rozalowsky, Paul Parsons and Judd Coupland nose to tail fighting the last podium position for the junior class. Parsons won that particular battle, with Rozalowsky retiring and Coupland fighting right to the flag. Derek Hayes crossed the line with Damien Faulkner in 2nd place. However, at the end of the race a protest was lodged by Robbie Kerr against Damien Faulkner's overtaking manoeuvre and the Race Stewards penalised Faulkner 30 seconds, dropping the Irishman from 2nd to 12th.

Derek Hayes celebrated his victory with Bruce Jouanny in second place, rounding off an excellent weekend for the Frenchman. Justin Keen was 3rd, closing the gap on Faulkner to 2 points for the championship lead. <pre> Round 12 Result
