Magny Cours (France) - 1st October 2000
Bruno Besson won the penultimate round of the season with a lights to flag victory in front of his home crowd, his first win of the 2000 season. American Paul Edwards got a fantastic start to move past Robbie Kerr before the first corner. Kerr put a lot of pressure on Edwards on the opening laps, but the Englishman backed off when he found his front tyres suffering. Paul Edwards took the chequered flag to step onto the podium for the first time this year.
Tim Mullen moved up from 7th to finish ahead of Christian Hohenadel, who starts this afternoon's race on pole position. The German driver won the junior class after Bruce Jouanny went off the circuit, rejoining at the back of the field.
"Everything was perfect," Bruno smiled after the race. "I had a good start and pulled out a two second gap over Paul Edwards. I was very comfortable and had a strong race. I am pleased to win at Magny Cours in front of my sponsors, family and friends."
