MOORE SET FOR DEBUT RACING SEASON
Bedford racer to contest Formula Palmer Audi

Jason Moore will make his car racing debut in 2007 after becoming the latest young talent to sign for the Formula Palmer Audi Championship.

Bedford-based Moore, 18, has tested the 300bhp turbocharged FPA car twice recently at the nearby Bedford Autodrome, and has committed to the 20-race season after setting some impressive times. Jason will get to race at famous circuits such as Brands Hatch and Donington Park, with the opening rounds scheduled for Silverstone on Easter Saturday.

"I'm really looking forward to competing in FPA this year," said the teenager, who has nine years' karting experience and is being supported by his father's business, G. Moore Haulage. "It's going to be a really steep learning curve in these powerful cars, but I expect to be running at the front of the field come the end of the season."

The FPA Championship features 22 identical cars, all run by the same team to ensure a level playing field. With the cars also being equipped with a turbo-boost button providing an extra 60bhp, Jason anticipates a tough challenge to handle his machine. "These cars are capable of doing 160mph, which is a big step up from karting to say the least! I've got one more test at Bedford next week, and after that I think I'll be ready."

FPA series boss and former Formula 1 driver Jonathan Palmer offered Jason a hearty welcome, and tipped him for success: "Jason has shown promise in karting over the last few seasons and I think he has a lot to offer this extremely competitive championship."
