Malaysia's Alex Yoong, 24, fought from 16th on the grid to again top his best finishing of 7th in today's round 4 of the 2001 Formula Nippon Championship in FUJI.
Alex had a miserable qualifying when brakes problems stopped him from repeating his 6th position achieved in the FUJI test 2 weeks ago.
From 16th on the grid, Alex drove imaculately to steadily hauled himself to 7th in the 50 lap race.
"I am very happy for the team after the problems we had yeesterday. The brakes at the race were still not perfect but was better than qualifying. In the end I felt that the quick laps I put together after the tyres change got me up to where I finished. It was very hot today and the race was very very tough. My condition helped alot." said Alex.
Alex's manager for Europe, Simon Munger was at hand to witness his good performance, saying "Alex drove faultlessly today. His pace was right up there and he didn't make a single mistake. There are more to come from him, I assure you. I'm very proud of him."
