FORMULA CAMPUS ROUND 6 - MACAU GIRL WINS AGAIN
In today's 6th round of the 2009 China Formula Campus series, Macau race driver Diana Rosario once again stole the show by putting the rest of the field behind by the end of the first lap, with a fast time 3.2 seconds ahead of the second fastest driver (1:46.822 vs 1:50.044). With the race held at 10:45a.m. under full rain conditions, drivers were challenged by the slick track. While Rosario cruised to an easy win, an exciting battle for 2nd place on the podium occurred between Hong Kong racer Luo Wei Lung and the new Formula Campus driver from Macau, Paulo Batalha.
For today's starting grid, Rosario started on pole with Batalha 2nd on the grid and Luo Wei Lung in P3, due to yesterday's finishing results. When the start lights went off, Rosario was first into turn one, followed by Batalha and then Batalha soon found himself fending off Luo Wei Lung to hold onto a 2nd place finish. Towards the end of the race, Luo Wei Lung managed to get by Batalha, only to have to protect his hold on P2. However, Lung managed to hold on for 2nd on the podium, with Batalha finishing a close 3rd. Another exciting part of the race was the hard charge of Rich Pham, who had started in P9 on the grid due to his DNF yesterday - Pham managed to move from 9th to 4th position in only the very first lap of the race, and was closing on Luo Wei Lung and Batalha at one point. In the end, however, Rosario finished the ten lap race an amazing 36.131 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack, for her second winner's trophy of the weekend.
Come watch the exciting conclusion of the 2009 Formula Campus series at its next and final race weekend, Rounds 7 & 8, to be held at the technically demanding Shanghai Tian Ma Shan Circuit. See you at the races!
