Barcelona, 25th September 2002 - The World Series program starts tomorrow at the Circuit of Catalunya. A session of collective tests will be held during the day, prior to the event to be held this weekend.

The Brazilian F3000 driver Rodrigo Sperafico will replace Angel Burgueño in the Meycom-Repsol team. Burgueño has suffered an intervention after braking his collar bone while he was driving a go-kart. The Team hopes Burgueño will participate in the last European Event (Valencia, October 20), before the Series steps in South America.

Franck Montagny and Bas Leinders are the two serious contenders in this competition for the Title. Both are just 26 points behind the F1 refugee.

The British driver Matthew Gilmore will also join the World Series category replacing the Austrian driver Lechner Jr. in the Zele Motorsport squad.

Football, glamour and motorsports will be the main attraction in this venue, considered as the FC Barcelona (Gabord Competición) home race.

Actually, a big leisure area open to the public will be located behind the Main Tribune of the Circuit, where the supporters of the FC Barcelona may visit their stand, or just enjoy the big selection of activities sponsorized by Telefónica, Nissan and Repsol.

Porteiro and Vallés, the Title is almost there!

The Formula Nissan 2000 Series and the Spanish Formula Junior Championship are close to the final step. Barcelona is the pre-final match for the leaders in these two categories: Santiago Porteiro and Adrian Vallés. The National Appeal Court of the Spanish Automobile Feredation has cancel the sanction for Porteiro (Race 1, Jarama) and the Spaniard has been given 12 points, increasing his lead from Bobbi in 34 points.

Diego Puyo and the newcomer team Auto Planet will competed in the FNissan 2000 for the first time. Marco Antonio Barba (Cracs) and Lucas Ordoñez (TCR) will also make his debut in the minor formula.
