19th April.- Argentinian driver Brian Smith is another newcomer for the Open Telefonica Nissan, the second round of this series to take place this weekend at Estoril, Portugal. Smith took part in the 1998 and 1999 F3000 A championship and replaces countrymate Mariano Acebal, as a result of a technical decision taken by team PSN Racing. Brian Smith will race with the same racing number as Acebal did (#10). Moreover, French F3 champion and Prost Acer F1 test driver Jonathan Cochet has also been confirmed this week to race the whole Open Telefonica Nissan series.
Born the 22nd April, 1975, Brian Smith will make his series debut on the day of his 26th anniversary. He started karting in Spain and, back in Argentina in 1995, he won the Formula Renault series after achieving 6 wins and 11 pole positions. In 1996 Brian Smith made his debut in British F3 (1 podium, 2 pole positions). He won one race the year after (1997 Wales GP) and finished seventh in the overall.
