Neil Doran endured a difficult weekend as he and his team visited the Silverstone GP circuit for the first time, but still managed a second place in the Scholarship Cup.
Neil and his Team, Kevin Mills Racing, had a steep learning curve to climb as they visited Silverstone for the first time.
The Formula Ford Championship was one of the support races for the Le Manns Endurance Series which saw the likes of Johnny Herbert and Alan McNish compete in.
Race one was a frustrating race for Neil. After a good start Neil was already moving forward but his chances were slashed after an over eager move from another driver took the pair of them out before the end of the first lap, dropping Neil to second in the Scholarship Championship and seventh overall.
Race two saw Neil claw back some valuable points as he took second in the scholarship cup and eighth overall. Neil admitted after the race that it had been the hardest weekend so far for himself and his team. Neil said, "this has definitely been the toughest two rounds so far for us, we just didn't have enough testing on new tyres and that really hurt us in qualifying, not to mention getting taken out in race one, but sometimes you have bad ones, you just have to pick the positives out and get on with the next one."
The Formula Ford Championship moves to the super fast Thruxton circuit for rounds 13&14 on the 30th August
