The Spaniard Félix Porteiro will mate the Portuguese ace
Barcelona, 8 April 2002 - André Couto and Félix Porteiro have been announced as the 2002 World Series drivers in the Vergani Racing Team. Both will be driving the new Dallara Nissan SN01.
The Portuguese 26-year-old driver André Couto, who has fixed his residence in Macao, returns to his old Team, where me made his debut in the Formula Opel Lotus European Championship in 1995.
Couto, former winner of the F3 Macao Grand Prix in 2000, has participated in several championships, like the German Formula 3 Championship, FIA F3000, and F Nippon.
Couto will mate Félix Porteiro, a 18-year-old Spanish driver who made his debut in the F3 Spanish Championship, after several years of competition in Karting. During the winter tests with the squad, Porteiro showed to be quite professional and putted some impressive times with the 2 litre engine car (Coloni Nissan CN1/C).
Couto and Porteiro will both participate in the first collective tests of the Telefónica World Series by Nissan, to be held at Valencia next Saturday and Sunday (13 and 14 of April), alongside the FIA Fórmula Nissan 2000 Vergani Racing official drivers, Mateo Bobbi and Milka Duno.
