Giuliano Alesi, the 15-year-old son of former Ferrari Grand Prix star Jean, scored two pole positions on his racing car debut at Ledenon in France.
Alesi – who has graduated to cars after a successful karting career – grabbed two poles for the season-opening French Formula 4 rounds.
"I'm obviously happy with these two pole positions,” Alesi told Motorsport.com. “Happy, but not so surprised because I'm extremely motivated and determined to give 100% of myself.
"Being on pole is one thing, but the races will be another story. I will probably feel pressured at the start, but not more than the other drivers in the field.
“This performance is a good sign for the future, but at the moment I'm fully focused on this weekend and making sure I stay at the front.
When asked for the reaction of his father Jean, Giuliano replied: "My dad was surprised, but first and foremost very, very happy".
