25 May, 2003 - Super Cheap Auto Formula Ford driver Adam Graham had a weekend full of ups and downs at the third round of the Ford Racing Australian Formula Ford Championship in Winton, Victoria last weekend.

During qualifying the 18-year-old driver was just outside the top 10 for the majority of the two sessions to eventually be 16th on the grid for the start of the opening 10-lap race.

"Prior to the is weekend my aim was not only to be competitive but aim for a top 10 finish and I think we have the pace to be there," said Graham after qualifying.

Unfortunately for Graham his best qualifying effort for the Championship was counter acted by an opening lap incident that dropped him to the back of the field.

Showing great determination he battled on moving up the order to be just outside the top 15 with a handful of laps remaining. Just as it appeared he had redeemed his opening lap adventure Graham spun in the closing stages dropping him to 25th at the finish.

Started from the back of the pack for the second race was definitely not where the Ford KartStars graduate was aiming to be but he showed some good pace to manoeuvre his way up the order in the second 10-lap race.

With passing opportunities very limited around the tight confines of Winton Motor Raceway Graham showed some good pace to move up several spots during the event.

At the completion of the 10-lap race Graham found himself in 22nd position, a little off his aim at the start of the weekend but reasonable considering the opening event finish.

"I was happy with the experience that I gained and also the pace that I showed over the weekend but was disappointed to finish as far down was what I did," commented Graham at the completion of the event.

"In the final race I had a slight misfire but I really wanted to battle on and achieve another finish and gain more racing laps.

"I can now go to my next round full of confidence knowing that I have the pace to be reasonably competitive and aim to be inside the top 10."

Prior to the next round of the Championship that he will compete in at Queensland Raceway on June 18-20 Graham will undergo several days of testing aboard the Super Cheap Auto Spectrum.
