8 September, 2003 - It has been a long tough year for Adam Graham in his Rookie year of the Ford Racing Formula Ford Championship and this weekend the Ford KartStars graduate is aiming to finish on a high at the final round in Sandown, Victoria.
After two top ten finishes in the National Series AG last weekend competed in a round of the Victorian State Series at Phillip Island to gain more racing laps prior to this weekend's event with tremendous success.
He qualified on pole to then go on to dominate the opening race setting times that would be a very respectable pace in the National Series. A jumped start in the second race put him down the order and he then used the remainder of the as a test session to ready himself for this weekend.
"It was good to be so fast, I improved my times by over a second from when I was there earlier in the year which was basically what the aim was," AG said last night.
While the previous two rounds of the Championship have been circuits that AG had tested at this weekend he will once again be learning the track during Friday's practice before aiming to obtain a good qualifying position on Saturday.
"Once again this year the Playstation is getting a workout learning the track," smiled AG referring to his use of the Playstation 2 aiding him to learn some of the circuits used in the Formula Ford Championship.
When speaking about the final weekend of the 2003 Ford Racing Formula Ford Championship ahead AG had this to say "It has been a great learning year and after the past two rounds and last weekend I am full of confidence that I can finish it on a high."
"While the top 3 guys are battling for the Championship I am aiming to be not far behind them and well inside the top 10."
Practice for the final round of the Ford Racing Formula Ford Championship begins on Friday followed by qualifying Saturday morning and Race One at 2:30pm. The second race will be held on Sunday at 9:15am.
