AG in the points again!

1 September, 2003 - For the second round in a row of the Ford Racing Australian Formula Ford Championship Adam Graham finished in the points yesterday at Mallala, South Australia.

Full of confidence from his success at Oran Park AG began the weekend in sensation fashion and was consistently bobbing in and out of the top 5 times during Friday's practice sessions.

With the opening qualifying session interrupted by rain after only 1 flying lap Graham was 8th fastest but what was most impressive was the fact that he continued to circulate in the wet conditions and held the fastest lap in the wet conditions for the majority of the session. The following session was held on a dry track and consequently out paced the first and AG set a time good enough to place him 10th on the grid in his Super Cheap Auto Spectrum.

"The car felt good all day Friday and it was good to be able to be inside the top 10 for the second time in as many rounds following qualifying, although I would have liked to have been a bit further up," said AG after qualifying.

Throughout the first race AG was in the thick of the action dicing with several competitors for spots just inside the top 10. With a handful of laps remaining AG was engaged in a titanic battle for tenth spot with Daniel Pappas but the 18-year-old pushed the limit a little too far and spun the Spectrum and dropped 5 spots in the process crossing the line in 15th.

"I had to push as hard as I could to stay inside the top 10 but unfortunately I pushed a little too hard and paid the price. It was good to be able to have the pace to be in a position to dice with some other guys," commented AG after race one.

Starting from 15th in the second 12-lap race AG was in the thick of the action once again moving up several spots in the opening lap and then Championship leader, Tony Pugliese on the following circulation to be knocking on the door of another top 10 finish.

Continuing to move forward AG made several moves in the later half of the race to claim his second top 10 finish of the Championship thus far.

"After keeping my nose clean for the opening few laps I then put my head down and tried to charge forward and gained a lot of confidence in the fact that I could pass people and it was wasn't a case of driving a lonely race," AG said after the completion of race.

The final round of the Ford Racing Australian Formula Ford Championship will be held at Sandown, Victorian on September 13/14.
