Wandahsega Consistent at Oshkosh...
Rounds 7 & 8 were held in Oshkosh WI, for the first time in 12 years. Primarily a dirt oval track racing facility, the track was temporarily redesigned to accommodate the stars of the World Series of Off-Road Racing.
Friday night Ben and Team Wandahsega was feeling very confident with the new parts installed on the truck after the Bark River race. Specifically, a Tube Works differential housing was installed to eliminate any chance of another wheel stud failure.
When the flag dropped, the Forest County Potawatomi Toyo Chevy went charging to the front. Ben took the lead on lap 2 until Dan Baudoux and Keith Steele were both able to get by after the handling of Wandahsega's truck went away. Ben was happy to finish in the top 3 as he and the team are really focusing on being consistent in the remaining rounds.
For Saturday night a few changes were made to help the truck over some of the short kicker jumps. When the green flag dropped Ben took the lead on the first corner and started to pull away from the rest of the field. The truck was running perfect as our NEO Oil kept our Wegner motor and ATD trans running nice and cool. At the half way point, Keith Steele was able to make up ground on Ben. Ben and his FCP truck was loosing time on the inside section of the track. Entering the oval section some contact was made as Steele went for the pass; Ben got side ways letting two other trucks by and was never able to make up any ground after that. Ben and Team Wandahsega would finish 4th on this day.
Overall the weekend went good as Wandahsega lead a lot of laps, finished consistent and still is in 3rd place in the points. Ben is looking very forward to going back to Bark River for rounds 9 & 10 as he and his team showed that they were really good there last month.
