After 50 career victories, Douglas and his Pro-4 Rancho Ford is ready for his first CORR championship
Indianapolis, Ind. (January 29, 2003)-Scott Douglas has been competing in off-road racing for more than 20 years. After 50 wins and 9 championships over those years, Douglas maintains a passion to be the best racer and represent his sponsors with enthusiasm.
Douglas Motor Sports recently found out that they would return to the CORR Lucas Oil Series in 2003 competing with their well-known Rancho Ford.
"We're very excited to get it behind us (the negotiations with Rancho) and be able to compete in the CORR Pro-4 division," said Douglas.

"Scott has taken special pride in putting together such a dedicated and hard working team that will do anything to get the job done. It is this kind of professionalism and dedication that provides the framework for a championship season in 2003."
In 2003, Douglas will enter his sixth season of competition in Championship Off Road Racing. In that time, he has not finished out of the top-five in the Pro-4 year end points, compiling 5 career wins in 80 starts. Douglas tied for second-place with Curt LeDuc in the 1999 Championship Off Road Racing Pro-4 season, with both drivers finishing one point behind the champion Walker Evans.
In 2002, Douglas finished 5th in the Pro-4 year-end point standings. With his truck always considered one of the fastest in the field, his team is concentrating on consistency for 2003.
Douglas pointed out that in 2001 and 2002, Rob MacCachren and Curt LeDuc were successful because they waited for the race to come to them, and not force the issue. Consistency will be Dougas' game plan for the 2003 CORR Lucas Oil Series, he said.
"We're going to focus on consistency (in 2003)," stated Douglas.
Douglas certainly has proven himself over the years, and after the 2002 season, he realized that they are getting closer to the top. Douglas believes that in order to build a championship caliber team, three categories must be in place, sponsors who are willing to provide the team with products and financial support to maintain a competitive truck, a dedicated driver, and a Crew Chief who takes all the resources and 'meshes it all together'.
Douglas represents two brands under the Tenneco Automotive umbrella, Rancho Suspension and Dynomax Performance Exhaust. Also included in the mix of automotive superstars is Ford Trucks, BFGoodrich Tires, Reider Racing, Precision Gear, Ingersoll Rand, Club Car, and K&N Filters, just to name a few.
2003 will be Ted Kendall's third year working with Douglas Motor Sports in the CORR Lucas Oil Series. Kendall has provided the right ingredients for much of Douglas' success. Most importantly, though, is the confidence Douglas has in his crew chief.
"It's every bit as important (having a good Crew Chief) as having a fantastic sponsor," said Douglas.
Little changes will be made to the Pro-4 Rancho Ford for 2003. Douglas always tries to keep up with the technological changes in off-road racing, but he has learned that reliability may give him his first CORR championship.
"We've tried a lot of new things and there's no doubt we've been one of the top contenders and quite a few times we've been the fastest truck on the track. (The new things) have worked out in certain situations but not overall for the whole year," Douglas said.
"I really feel we got the best shot we ever have," noted Douglas. "We certainly have a proven truck. I feel that I'm more excited than ever. It's a real exciting year for us. I'm excited more than ever to bring a championship home to Rancho."
