Taylor, Mich. (October 15, 2001) - The 2001 Championship Off-Road Racing Precision Gear Driver of the Year awards were announced last week. Pro-2 driver Scott Taylor and Sportsman Single Buggy driver Michael Seefeldt won the second Precision Gear Driver of the Year honor.
In the Pro division, Pro-2 champion Scott Taylor of Belvidere, Illinois edged out Pro-4 champion Rob MacCachren 442 to 436 in the final Precision Gear point standings. Taylor, who won his third consecutive Pro-2 championship in 2001, finished the year with 7 victories and 14 top three finishes. In his Championship Off-Road Racing career, Taylor has 24 wins in 66 starts.
Single Buggy driver Michael Seefeldt of Sussex, Wisconsin claimed the 2001 Sportsman Driver of the Year award. In 16 rounds, Seefeldt had one victory and 13 top-three finishes, and finished four points out of first place. Seefeldt won the 1998 Single Buggy championship and has 11 wins in 47 starts during his career.
"The performance of these two individuals demonstrate the premise under which Precision Gear operates^×namely that it takes consistent performance and execution to become a champion," said Precision Gear President Tom Reider.
Precision Gear will award the 2001 CORR EXXON Superflo Pro Series champion $ 7,500 and the Sportsman champion $ 1,000 at the annual Championship Off-Road Racing awards banquet on December 1 in Indianapolis.
