Scott Taylor leads CORR Pro-2 series
June 9, 2003 -- Belvidere, IL -- It was a rainy weekend in Antigo, Wisconsin for the Mole Lake Regency Casino Off Road Championship races.
Due to the wet and sloppy conditions of the track, the Scott Taylor race team bypassed the Saturday morning practice session. Fortunately for all CORR racers, the track began absorbing the excess moisture allowing for Round 3 to take place.
Round 3 started with the Scott Taylor Mobil 1 BFGoodrich Ford F-150 on the inside of the fifth row. With most of the Pro-2 field in front of him, Scott decided to be conservative at the start of the race, and ended up in 7th position after the first corner.
Scott quickly moved up two positions by the second lap, and at the half way point of the race the Mobil 1 BFGoodrich Ford F-150 was in 3rd position. With 5 laps remaining, Scott was in 2nd place with the leader, Carl Renezeder in his sights.
With the awesome power of the Roush powerplant, Scott was turning the fastest laps on the race. On the last lap, coming out of the final corner, Scott and the leader were side by side. As they powered down the front straightaway going for the checkered flag, the two competitors were headed for a photo finish. In the end Scott Taylor and his Mobil1 BF Goodrich Tires Ford F-150 ended up in 2nd place just inches short of victory.
Scott Taylor commented --" just one more turn and I would have had the race won, but it is still a victory for BFGoodrich with 1st and 2nd place trucks on BFGoodrich tires."
Taylor also states that he feels so good to have such great sponsors such as Mobil 1, BFGoodrich, Ford Trucks, Justice Brothers, Precision Gear, ATD Transmission, Roush Racing, Boatec, Phils Inc., PSI Performance, Ringer Gloves, Miller Electric, MSD Ignition, K&N Engineering, Auto Meter and Lancair on board to show case there products and for all there support.
Round 4 was cancelled due to the weather and will be rescheduled.
After 3 rounds of racing Scott Taylor is tied for 1st place in the Lucas Oil CORR Pro-2 Division!
