SMD Fires Off at Terrible's Town
Heber, California (April 29, 2007) -- As the sun rose on a beautiful day in the Nevada desert, SMD Motorsports began the day with a two bullets in the chamber with the hopes that one of them would reach the target of a Trophy-Truck victory. In addition to the Dave Clarke designed Trophy-Truck that SMD has campaigned the previous two seasons, this day marked the debut of the highly anticipated state-of-art Geiser Brothers designed Trophy-Truck. Due to a decision to forego qualifying in favor of more testing time, both trucks would be forced to start in the back of the 18 Trophy-Truck field. After the dust settled, the Geiser Brothers designed Trophy-Truck piloted by Matt Scaroni for the first half of the race, and then David Scaroni for the second half managed to move all the way up to an astounding third place finish after a trouble free day. Steve Scaroni who soloed the event in the Dave Clarke designed Trophy-Truck managed a Top-10 finish.
SMD Motorsports team owner and driver Steve Scaroni commented, "We couldn't ask for much more than this, to have one truck on the podium and the other have a strong finish is true testament to the strength and depth of this entire team and our loyal sponsors."
"It's a great feeling when you can take delivery of a Trophy-Truck the day before a race, and have an absolute trouble free day that culminates in a Top 3 finish" said SMD driver Matt Scaroni. "The Fox Racing Shox worked perfectly from the very first time we drove the truck."
David Scaroni, who drove the second half of the race, commented" We are ecstatic about our finish with a truck that will only continue to get better as we figure out the intricacies of it. It was unreal how well the truck handled and to have a day with no flats on a course that is notorious for causing them is a true testament to the strength of the BFGoodrich Tires."
SMD Motorsports next race will be the SCORE Baja 500 in Ensenada, Mexico June 1-3.
