2003 looks bright for MONGO Racing

MONGO Racing will start their 2003 off-road race season on February 6, 2003 at the Best In The Desert Racing Association's Blue Water Resort & Casino Parker 425.

After a dismal second half to finish the 2002 season, the team is ready to get back on the winning track. MONGO Racing's driver, Randy Merritt said, "I am looking forward to a more consistent year in 2003. We had problems last year with our engines, so this year we made a change in engine builders. We are prepping two Ford F-150 trucks to make the run for points championship, thanks to Herb Reno and Reno Sheet Metal of North Hollywood, California," Randy added.

The Blue Water Resort & Casino Parker 425 is the Parker team's home track, so there is added pressure for MONGO Racing to be successful at this race.

The Parker desert is unique and challenging, so this will be a test of both body and machine. This course, for the first time in several years, will be spectator friendly with several viewing locations and pit areas on the 136-mile track. Maps of the spectator areas are located at www.bitd.com. Each vehicle must complete three laps of the course. The start and finish to the Blue Water Resort & Casino Parker 425 is also as unique as the desert, starting at the downtown stop light in front of the Chamber of Commerce building and finishing on the beach of the Colorado River at the Blue Water Resort & Casino.

"It will be another great experience starting in front of the local crowd and finishing on the beach as we did several years ago," said Steve Solaiza, Merritt's co-driver. "MONGO Racing has won the last five Whiplash Parker 400 races here in Parker and now with Best In The Desert promoting the new Parker 425 and the level of competition that attends the BITD races, a sixth win in Parker will be more challenging, but we are ready for it."

The BITD Stock-Full Truck class has always been a competitive group with the likes of Manny Esquerra, Greg Fouts and Chad Hall. Randy Merritt and MONGO Racing have steadily improved in the class since committing to not only winning races, but to challenging for the season points championship. That means every year finishing higher than the last in the season-end points standing. MONGO Racing is looking forward to attending all the BITD races for the 2003 season to challenge for the BITD Stock-Full Truck points Championship.

MONGO Racing would like to thank Good Year Tire and Rubber Company, Sway-A- Way, Parker Motor Company, Ford Trucks, Signcraft, BEKO Radiator, AUTOMETER, MSD, Valley Spring Service, Little Brown Jug, Parker Roofing, Gibb's A/C, Chuck Baker Enterprises, Churchill & Frame, Baldenagro Brothers Trucking, RENO Sheet Metal, Badenoch's and Lickity Stitch. This year, MONGO Racing will be remembering Steve Randall, a longtime sponsor and friend who died in a tragic motorcycle accident. Steve will be missed.
