With an Entry List with more than 300 national and international drivers, the sixth edition of the 24 Hours TT Vodafone, that takes place this weekend (28th to 30th of this month), as always in Fronteira, is set to be the final Off Road show in Portugal this year. At the same time, the 24 Hours TT Vodafone will also decide who is this year winner of the RTP - TT Cup, with as much as ten drivers eligible.
As we said before, with more than 300 drivers it is a bit difficult to name a probable winner. Nevertheless, Jorge Serra and Luís Costa - with a Toyota Land Cruiser - won the event last year and surely want to do the same again this year. But to do so, they must beat the official Portuguese teams of Toyota, Mitsubishi and Nissan. with some great drivers! For Toyota, João and Miguel Ramos and Filipe Campos are set to be one of the fastest teams overall, the same happening with "Mitsubishi boys" Stéphane Peterhansel, Carlos Sousa, Miki Biasion and reigning Portuguese Champion, Miguel Barbosa. For Nissan, Rui Sousa, Luís Dias and the Mello Breyner brothers will also want to set things straight and go for the win.
If it is true than the tens of National drivers will use all their knowledge of the Fronteira Circuit, watch out for the "French delegation", as more than 40 drivers will attend the 24 Hours TT Vodafone, namely the Poletti brothers' team, with Philippe Letang and Ronald Basso. For that, their Fouquet Buggy will need to be on top shape if they want to do better than their 3rd place in 2002.
At the same time, there will be other drivers used to a completely different set but than can try to surprise some of us with a good result. Tiago Monteiro - Portuguese driver in CART Championship -, Pedro Matos Chaves - former F1 driver and actual Renault Rally driver -, as well as Andrea Mayer - "Mitsu girl" for 2004 Dakar, Estelle Halliday or Anne Chantal Pauwels are some other strong contestants.
