JEG'S Pro Stock Trucks On Opposite Sides Of Ladder-All JEG'S Final Is Possible

Today was the second day for the Pro Stock Truck class. Scattered clouds have taken over the sky above the Heartland Park Topeka facility. The weather is expected to worsen as the weekend goes on, rain is in the forecast for both Saturday and Sunday.

The Pro Stock Trucks took to the track for their second day of qualifying. During the third qualifying session of the weekend Mike was in the left lane and John was in the right lane.

Mike and his #28 JEG'S Chevy S-10 began the session sitting in the number thirteen position. The truck launched from the starting line and rocketed down the middle of the groove to the finishline.

Coughlin improved his qualifying time and moved up one position to land in the number twelve slot. Mike said, "I think that we have a pretty good handle on what the track wants. We just need to continue to make small measurable changes to further improve the setup."

John began the day sitting in the number seven spot. In the third session John's JEG'S Mail Order S-10 machine launched from the starting line beams and charged down the track. The times that he recorded to half track were an improvement. However, John broke a spring in the transmission and was forced to coast to the finishline.

John noted, "The truck showed a lot of promises until we got to half track and the spring broke. But the team has a great handle on what the track and truck want in the way of a setup."

The final qualifying session for the Pro Stock Truck class came and went like it always does. The weather conditions that we had for the final qualifying session were the best that the class has had so far this week.

Mike Coughlin came into the final session holding down the number twelve spot. He was in the right lane. The #28 JEG'S Mail Order Chevy S-10 took off from the starting line like a rocket. The truck was in the center of the groove and ran into some traction problems at the 1000' foot clock. The truck started searching for bite from the track and started to spin the tire which caused the truck to move around. Mike stayed with it to the finish line.

Coughlin noted, "I am looking forward to raceday and going round this weekend in the JEG'S S-10." Mike did not improve his qualifying position and slipped to the number fifteen spot. Mike will face off against Brad Jeter in round one.

John started the session sitting in the number eight spot. The #31 yellow and black JEG'S S-10 was in the left lane. The truck launched and took off down the middle of the groove like it was on a string.

John did not improve his qualifying time and stayed in the number eight position. Coughlin will go head to head with Kim Smith. John stated, "We made some good runs today, but we are looking forward to raceday. Raceday is the day that counts!"

The Coughlin Pro Stock Truck duo of Mike and John will be on opposite sides of the ladder. The Pro Stock Truck team has yet to have an all-JEG'S final, the team would like nothing more.
