BRITTANY FORCE BRINGS NYC AND OC STATE OF MIND TO TOPEKA
TOPEKA, KS (May 25, 2009) --- As the middle daughter of 14-time NHRA Funny Car Champion John Force and his wife Laurie, Brittany Force enjoys testing her parent's limits. Recently the Cal State Fullerton student returned from a semester at Hunter College in New York City. Going to school on the East Coast and in New York City specifically has been a dream of Force's for some time.
"It is always something I wanted to do. When I was in high school I always said I wanted to go to school in New York. I really wanted the experience. My mom and I flew out to New York and we looked at schools and I started applying to a couple. I still didn't even know if it was possible or not. It just so happened that I was accepted at Hunter College and most of the classes I took transferred back to Cal State Fullerton and I am applying them to my major. It all fell into place just like I wanted it to. I really enjoyed it and if I hadn't have gone I would regret it," said Force.
Force a self described Southern California girl will be reunited with her family at a familiar venue as they converge on Heartland Park Topeka for the 21st annual NHRA O'Reilly Summer Nationals presented by Castrol GTX this weekend. While she was able to fit in some racing while she was studying at Hunter College she is eager to get into the summer racing groove along with her sister Courtney. In addition to racing the two youngest Force daughters have a number of other plans.
"Courtney and I are looking into planning a trip together. We always said when we were younger when we went eventually off to college and actually got along and were friends we wanted to travel together. I don't know where we want to go but I know we want to try and plan a trip. We tried to plan something last summer but we had no free weekends because of racing. We are going to try and get an earlier start on it," said Force.
As far as racing and getting behind the wheel of her BrandSource Top Alcohol Dragster tuned by Jerry Darien Force is equally excited.
"You always have a few butterflies when you get back into the car after you haven't driven in a while. I know it will all come back to me though and I am looking forward to racing. It is a lot of fun to be at the track with the other racers, the fans and of course my family," said Force.
Force will begin exercising her racing butterflies first thing Friday morning. Qualifying will begin Friday 11 a.m. with a second session at 2:30 p.m.
