Tony Gillig the driver of the Gillig Motorsports, Shanahan Drywall Service Olds Cutlass is anxious to start the 2000 season. Team Gillig made their way to the Superbowl of Pro Stock in Houston Texas where Gillig qualified his Cutlass in the 13th position. Tony's off pace 6.98 at 197.00 was able to beat Jamie Yates who ran a 7.05 at 196.00. In the second round Gillig had the other Split Fire Pontiac but shook the tires and watched Jim Yates streak to the win

In Houston Gillig was testing tires, clutches and a whole new engine combination with help from CFE and Jon Kaase Racing Engines. Gillig stated, "We are testing a clutch that no one in NHRA Pro Stock is currently running and if it works well we hope to keep it that way." He ran a 6.92 and a 6.93 @ 198 mph Sunday which is Gillig's career best ET to date. Gillig was also testing Hoosier tires and his new engine that is fresh off the dyno. "We purchased a set of heads and a intake manifold from Carl Foltz at CFE and are very pleased with Carl's product and look to greatly improve on our 1999 season."

Gillig cut his testing a little early to head to Phoenix to visit his grandfather who is in the hospital with an aneurysm on his aorta and is scheduled for surgery this week.

Team Gillig will be at the Autozone Winternationals in Pomona and looks forward to starting the season off on the right foot with a solid qualifying effort and some round wins to boot!
