The conditions that NHRA's most competitive class expect to have a mile-high from sea level will give the Pro Stock class unique obstacles to overcome. The normally aspirated 500-cid engines need ample amounts of oxygen to produce horsepower and be a competitive threat on raceday.

Team JEG'S showed the field last year that they are just as competitive a mile from sea level as they are at sea level. Jeg and Troy Coughlin faced off in the final round in their two identical looking JEG'S Mail Order Olds Cutlass' last year.

Jeg Coughlin, Jr. left the mountain as the man to beat for the second year in a row ('98 & '99 winner). In fact, this year will mark Jeg, Jr's third visit to Bandimere Speedway since getting behind the wheel of a "factory hot rod". He will climb back to the top of the mountain this year leading his closest competitor by 210 points (over 10 rounds).

"We really seem to have a great high altitude set up," explained Jeg. "Richard Maskin's (engine builder) engine tuning is really showcased here where others seem to run into problems creating adequate horsepower to be competitive."

Troy Coughlin is coming off of his first NHRA professional major event. He is resting in the No. 5 position in the NHRA Winston Championship with 614 points. A strong performance on the mountain can move Troy up as high as the No. 4 spot.

"We are having a good year," said Troy. "We just need to turn it up a notch and not look in the rear view mirror. Our program is strengthening with every race and we are ready to continue our winning ways in Denver."

If history is any indication of what is in store for Team JEG'S their winning ways will certainly continue when the men in yellow and black return to the mountain.
