FRIDAY'S RACING ACTION CANCELED AT ST. LOUIS

MADISON, Ill. (May 4, 2007) -- Rod Fuller, who earned his third career pole last weekend in Atlanta, played the waiting game all day Friday at Gateway International Raceway as the opening day of qualifying for the 11th annual O'Reilly Midwest Nationals was canceled to due persistent rain showers in the St. Louis area.

Piloting the Fabick CAT dragster this weekend at Gateway Int'l Raceway, the four-time NHRA Top Fuel winner looks for another successful weekend at the drag strip. The Las Vegas racer enters the seventh race on the 2007 NHRA schedule ranked second in the NHRA Top Fuel standings, trailing points-leader Brandon Bernstein by just 19 points. Fuller, who won the Phoenix race in February, also set career-best performance marks at the Phoenix track at 4.466 seconds and 331.61 mph. He has advanced to at least the semifinals at seven of the last 10 races. Fuller raced his yellow-and-black Mustang-CAT-backed dragster at the Houston event in late March.

"After last year, I think I'm officially still the No. 1 qualifier here at St. Louis," Fuller joked. "No seriously, I'm disappointed for the fans that had to wait all day long. And, I'm disappointed for the folks from Fabick CAT. I really wanted to show off for them and to not get to run is no fun."

Top Fuel qualifying continues with sessions scheduled for 12:30 and 3 p.m. (CT) on Saturday afternoon at Gateway Int'l Raceway. ESPN2 will air two hours of qualifying coverage from 5-7 p.m. (ET) on Saturday evening. Fuller earned his first career Top Fuel pole last June at Gateway Int'l Raceway.
