Gann Seventh After Friday Qualifying; XTreme Rebellion/RumBum Buell back on track after rough weekend in Denver
SONOMA, Calif. -- After spending Saturday's qualifying sessions at Bandimere in the hospital with flu-like symptoms and having his bike catch fire at the starting line on Sunday, it's an understatement to say Shawn Gann and his XTreme Rebellion/RumBum team were excited to get to Infineon Raceway and the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals. After two rounds of NHRA Full Throttle Series Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying on Friday, Gann currently sits at seventh on the charts after running a 7.084 ET with a speed of 187.50 mph.
The North Carolina native was pleased with his Buell Friday, especially with the new engine that was built for it since Denver. "It did what it was supposed to do," Gann said. "We ran a 7.231 in the first round and were quicker in the second. We've had some bad luck lately when we know we have a good team and a good bike.
"We haven't been giving Xtreme Rebellion and RumBum the exposure they should be getting on Sundays and that's going to change starting this weekend. We're here to win some rounds and get this team back in the Winner's Circle."
Defending PSM champ Eddie Krawiec is on the provisional pole with an ET of 6.973 and a speed of 190.48 mph. His teammate, Andrew Hines, is second (6.986 ET, 188.52 mph).
Gann and the rest of the NHRA Full Throttle Series Pro Stock Motorcycle class kick off round two of qualifying for Sunday's eliminations for the Fram Autolite NHRA Nationals at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with the second round starting at 2:15 p.m. Sunday's eliminations begin at 11 a.m.
