Gann to start from the No. 2 spot at Sonoma.

SONOMA, Calif. (August 2,2003) -- Shawn Gann, aboard his Mac Tools/Berryman Products '02 Suzuki, was the No. 2 qualifier when qualifying ended today for the NHRA FRAM Autolite Nationals being held this weekend at Infineon Raceway in the wine country of Sonoma, Calif.

Gann was consistent throughout with the exception of the last qualifying pass. The Stoneville, N.C. rider recorded his best pass of 7.070 seconds at 190.24 mph in Saturday's first qualifying session.

As the quickest Pro Stock Bike field in NHRA history heads to eliminations, which will begin at noon tomorrow, Gann will face last week's Pro Bike winner Blaine Hale. Hale qualified 15th with a run of 7.189 seconds at 186.82 mph.

Craig Treble led all qualifiers with a track record 7.062 seconds. Andrew Hines ran the fastest speed in NHRA history when he blazed the speed traps in 195.28 mph aboard the Vance and Hines Screaming Eagle Harley Davidson V-Rod.
