HAGAN QUALIFIES NO. 11 IN SONOMA

SONOMA, Calif. (July 17, 2010) - Matt Hagan powered the DieHard Dodge Charger Funny Car into No. 11 in qualifying for the FRAM-Autolite NHRA Nationals at Infineon Raceway, posting his quickest pass of the weekend of 4.202 seconds at 284.93 mph right out of the box on Friday.

The DieHard team struggled in the ensuing rounds, in which Hagan recorded a tire-hazing 4.508/188.12 (No. 9) on Friday night, a similar 4.332/219.79 (No. 9) in his third try on Saturday, and a 4.238/286.56 in the final session.

"We're really 60-footing and 330-footing well," said Hagan. "We're just working on our half-track and 1000-foot increments right now. Obviously, we won't have lane choice and that might hurt us a little bit.

"It's been kind of a rough weekend for us," added Hagan, who relinquished his track records at Infineon Raceway to his Don Schumacher Racing teammate Jack Beckman (4.063/311.56). We hadn't been down the race track but once under full power. We had a cylinder out and smoked the tires a couple of times.

"That last lap was a good baseline for tomorrow, so I think (crew chief) Tommy (DeLago) has something to work from."

Hagan faces Del Worsham in the opening round of Sunday's eliminations. "We're looking forward to tomorrow," he said. "Del's a good racer. We have to bring our A game and I think it will be OK."
