Humphreys Makes Consist Runs Saturday, Stays 10th

SONOMA, Calif., July 27, 2008 -- Justin Humphreys and the rest of the Pro Stock field had to deal with warmer conditions and a tricky racing surface Saturday that sent elapsed times higher at Infineon Raceway. He wasn't able to improve his 10th place Pro Stock position from Friday, although his 6.697-second time in the afternoon heat was eighth-quickest of the session.

Humphreys' best quarter-mile time was 6.652 seconds at 207.18 mph and sends him against Greg Anderson (seventh, 6.638 at 208.59 mph) in the first round of eliminations.

"I ran next to Greg in both runs today and now I must race him on Sunday," said Humphreys, driver of the RaceRedi Dodge. "I think we are starting to get a handle on this Mopar. Tenth place isn't too bad, but I'd still rather be in the top half of the field."

The top 10 in POWERade Series points is another place he'd like to be, and he wants to take steps to accomplish that goal Sunday by winning rounds. He is 12th and still within striking distance of 10th place.

"We'd like to work our way through the field on Sunday," Humphreys continued. "If you are in the starting line-up anything can happen on race day. We'll just try to do our jobs and hope we can make it."
