KATHY TODD OF AUBURN, CALIF., NAMED 16TH NAPA HONORARY CREW MEMBER OF 2010 NHRA SEASON

SONOMA, Calif. (July 17, 2010) - Kathy Todd of Auburn, Calif., was selected as the 16th NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member of the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series on Friday at the FRAM-Autolite NHRA Nationals. A second NAPA Honorary Crew Member was selected on Sunday.

Mrs. Todd, 58, is the wife of Mel Todd, owner and chief financial officer of Riebes Auto Parts Stores, which consists of 22 NAPA AUTO PARTS stores located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Todds have owned the stores for 20 years, and both are devout drag-racing fans.

"I think the NAPA team is doing a great job. My niece loves Ron Capps, my brother loves him and so do I. So, it must be a good thing," she said.

Although she claims to be happy being a housewife, a homemaker and a former hairdresser, Mrs. Todd, who was born in Riverdale, Calif., says she "loves speed" and follows NHRA drag racing, NASCAR and motorcycle racing. "When we were young we used to go to Raisin City, Calif., where they used to have drag races many years ago, but it has since shut down," she said. As far as working with her husband at the NAPA stores, "He does all the work. I cut his hair and that's as far as I go," she added.

But her love for speed and competitive nature have manifested themselves in other forms of motorsports, including sand-drag racing in Pismo Beach, Calif. "That was years ago," said Mrs. Todd. We'd go over there and play once or twice a year. It was a just a fun, family thing."

Her sons Chad and Travis Brandon were once car salesman, but have since moved on to other professions.

Jay Cooper, Director of Customer Service and Public Relations for Riebes Auto Parts explained how Mrs. Todd was selected as Friday's NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member. "The NAPA Distribution Center in Sacramento offered the opportunity to Riebes Auto Parts to select the honorary crew member for this event. Riebes looked at their 360 company employees to find just the right person to be the Honorary Crew Member. It was determined that Kathy Todd would be a very deserving recipient of the award as she is a big NHRA and Ron Capps drag-racing fan."

Mrs. Todd's non-wrenching crew-member duties included escorting the NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge Funny Car to the staging lanes for Friday's qualifying rounds. She then helped retrieve the car at the end of the track after each of Capps' passes.

The side window of the NAPA AUTO PARTS Dodge sported her name as the NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Member on Friday.

She also met and chatted with the entire NAPA Dodge Funny Car crew, was a special guest in the NAPA hospitality area throughout the weekend, received a NAPA team jersey, experienced an up-close-and-personal view of the NAPA crew as the team worked on the car, and enjoyed a private tour of the team transporter and pit area.

NAPA AUTO PARTS distribution centers at each NHRA event during the season have different criteria for choosing the persons who are potential NAPA AUTO PARTS Honorary Crew Members.
