Howard looking for late season rally in Belle Rose

BELLE ROSE, La. - Defending NHRA Division 4 Top Alcohol Dragster Champion Shelly Howard will be looking to make a late season run at this year's championship during this weekend's Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, La. Howard, who is currently in third place in Division 4 standings hopes a strong showing will help her gain on current leaders Lee Callaway and Nick Copeland.

Howard, from Tulsa, Okla., has had quite a contrast in the first half and current part of the season. Early in the year, the team struggled to find the right combination for their new car. After extensive testing in the middle of the year, Howard and her team turned the year around and have made the final round at the last four out of five races they have attended.

"We just have to stay focused this weekend," said Howard. "This is a crucial race, and we stand to gain a lot of ground. We just have to take it one run at a time and do our best every run."

This weekend will be the first divisional event at the new No Problem Raceway. Howard and her team look forward to running there this weekend.

"Everything we have heard about the track is positive," stated Howard. "It is always a good thing when you get another good track added in your division. We're looking forward to it."
