NHRA TELECASTS TO BE ADDED TO ESPN2 HD PROGRAMMING

GLENDORA, Calif.-- Beginning with the K&N Filters NHRA SuperNationals June 16-19 at Englishtown, N.J., the remaining telecasts of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series will be added to ESPN2 HD's program schedule, ESPN and the NHRA announced today.

"We are excited that ESPN has selected the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series to be featured in high definition in 2005," said NHRA President Tom Compton. "Few sports can benefit as much from the unique attributes of high definition programming than NHRA POWERade Drag Racing."

ESPN2 HD has added the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series to its list of high definition programming that is highlighted by Major League Baseball and men's and women's College World Series.

"By experimenting with NHRA in high definition in 2005, ESPN will be able to deliver the unique sights and sounds of NHRA POWERade Drag Racing to our loyal fans watching at home in a format that they have never seen before on television," Compton said.

In addition to the race coverage, ESPN2 will offer 14 of the 41 scheduled NHRA 2Day episodes in high definition.

Headquartered in Glendora, Calif., the NHRA is the primary sanctioning body for the sport of drag racing in the United States. It presents 23 national events through its NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series. The NHRA has 80,000 members and 140 member tracks. The NHRA-sanctioned sportsman and bracket racing series' provide competition opportunities for drivers of all levels. The NHRA develops the stars of tomorrow by offering the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, NHRA Summit Sport Compact Drag Racing Series, NHRA Summit Racing Series, and the NHRA Street Legal Program. The NHRA also offers the NHRA O'Reilly Auto Parts Jr. Drag Racing League for youths ages 8 to 17.
