Jeg looks strong going into Seattle

The reigning NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champion will return to Pacific Raceways as the defending event winner. Last year, Jeg Coughlin scored his second victory of the season and it was part of a late season charge for the 33-year old second-generation driver.

Jeg Coughlin has yet to hold the hardware on the podium in Pro Stock this year. He has scored three runner up finishes so far this season and is one of only three drivers who have qualified for each race in NHRA's most competitive professional class during 2003.

"We need to continue doing our job as a team through qualifying and translate what we learn during qualifying to round wins on race day," explained Jeg. "Our team had the best weekend we have had all year last weekend in Denver. Scoring a runner up and a semifinal round appearance with our two-cars is a solid performance and is good positive momentum to have at this point in the season."

Jeg will enter the 14th event on the 23-race schedule sitting in the No. 4 position in the NHRA POWERade Pro Stock championship. He has 810 points and is 61 points from taking over the No. 3 position. The two-time Pro Stock champion is 311 points behind the leader and is 240 points from the No. 2 spot.

"We know we have an up hill battle to climb," said Jeg. "Our goal remains to win the championship until someone else is crowned."
