Anderson Number 1 in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Greg Anderson, driver of the Vegas General Construction Pontiac Grand Am, has done it again. For the eighth time this season Anderson has qualified his Pro Stock ride in the Number 1 position for tomorrow's 16th annual Carquest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Seattle, Wash. It was in the Saturday morning session of qualifying where Anderson drove his Grand Am to a 6.754 / 205.19 mph to take the top slot.

"Somebody asked me if we are getting tired for being Number 1 every weekend; hell no," said Anderson of Charlotte, NC. "How can you get tired of this. This is the most fun a race team can have.

"Really, this is a testament of just how good my team is. At every race, they are thrown a curve ball of one kind or another: a bad racetrack, weather, altitude, or some other thing. At every race this Vegas General Construction team steps up to the plate and hits another homer. Qualifying Number 1 and the consistency this car has is all about this team.

"Tonight we will get ready for the race tomorrow. This is a real tight field. There is only .074 of a second separating first and sixteenth. In a field like that, anyone that can qualify can win. So, we have to be prepared for anything. We will do our jobs tonight, and if I can do my job tomorrow, we could possibly see the winner's circle again Sunday night."

Eliminations at the 16th annual Carquest Auto Parts NHRA Nationals will begin at 11:00 AM PST on Sunday July 27.
