Advance Auto Parts Racing Team gains helpful knowledge; ready to run at Seattle event.
Seattle, WA ---As the Advance Auto Parts Racing Team heads Northwest to the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals in Seattle, WA, owner/driver Cruz Pedregon and his crew are convinced they will soon reap rewards for their hard work, dedication, and long hours. Despite the last minute "bump" from their qualifying position in Denver, last weekend's event proved to be very resourceful, giving the team valuable information that will be helpful going into the Seattle event.
"There are a few things that we discovered over the weekend that will be helpful to us throughout the rest of the season," stated Pedregon. "As we continue to refine our set-up, we are making adjustments that will allow us to be more consistent. We are also excited about getting back to a track at sea-level. We have the information that has allowed us to make some good passes at these sea-level facilities - running 4.80s when the air is good. If we take what we discovered over the weekend and add that to our data, we have a good chance of qualifying in the top half of the field."
"Overall we were very pleased with our experience at Denver," said newly hired Team Consultant Bill Schultz. "We are in a learning mode and still determining the characteristics of the car. We found a couple of traits that need to be adjusted that will bring us closer to being more competitive. We are full of enthusiasm and ready to race at Seattle."
Cruz Pedregon is no stranger to the Seattle Pacific Raceways facility. In 1993, Pedregon took the number one qualifying position at the Seattle National Event as well as claimed the runner-up title. In 1995, Cruz again qualified in the number one spot at the National Event.
"I really feel that from this point forward, we will see positive changes," said Pedregon. "Bill, Ted (Fasching) and I have spent a lot of time putting our game plan together for Seattle. I never enter a race believing that I can't win, and I feel more positive than ever going into this event."
Qualifying sessions for the Lucas Oil NHRA Northwest Nationals will begin on Friday, July 26th continuing through Saturday July 27th. Final Elimination rounds will begin Sunday, July 28th at 11:00 am.
