The rain took over last night at Virginia Motorsports Park and forced the second qualifying session to be canceled. The weather conditions for the final day of qualifying proved to be superior. The sixteen qualified Pro Stock drivers made up the quickest field in NHRA Pro Stock history.

Jeg Coughlin, Jr. sat in the No. 7 spot when the final day of qualifying began. He ran a 6.864 at 200.20 mph during the third qualifying session and marched up to the No. 3 slot.

"That was the type of run we were looking for," Jeg noted. "Now we can fine tune from here and work on improving during the final session tonight."

After the first day of qualifying Troy was in the No. 5 position. He did not improve during the third session and slipped down to the No. 9 spot.

"We know what mistake that we made and we know how to correct it," said Troy. "We will be ready for the final qualifying session."

Jeg improved during the final session. He ran a 6.849 at 200.35 mph and remained in the No. 3 position. The NHRA Winston points leader will face off against Scott Geoffrion in round one.

"I thought that we would have run a little better," commented Jeg. "We are ready for tomorrow in a big way."

Troy was the last car to go down the track during the final qualifying session. He ran a 6.869 at 199.82 mph and landed in the No. 6 spot. Troy will face off against Bruce Allen in the first round, Coughlin will have lane choice.

"I knew that we would improve in the last session," stated Troy. "We will now turn our focus to raceday and winning this race."
