RICHMOND, VA (Apr. 28) - Fresh off his win in Houston, Larry Dixon qualified the Don Prudhomme-owned Miller Lite Dragster in the No. 3 position Friday with his lap of 4.672 seconds at 307.30 mph at the Sixth Annual Moto1.net Nationals presented by Chevrolet.

Dixon, who posted a runner-up finish in Richmond last season, would have to be satisfied with his first effort of the day as light rain cancelled the evening qualifying session which typically produces much quicker times down the quarter mile track.

"We dropped a cylinder on that run, but I stayed with it," said Dixon at the top end of the track following his run. "With the weather the way it is right now, I just wanted to make sure that we were solidly qualified in the field for Sunday."

Kenny Bernstein took the pole after the first day ended with his effort of 4.593 seconds at 312 mph, followed by Tony Schumacher's second-place time of 4.664 seconds at 304 mph.

The final two qualifying sessions of the weekend resume Saturday and are scheduled to be run at Noon and 4 PM EST.
