Weather forces Red River to Run Into Night Fall

Gilliam, La. -- The final results from Red River Raceway are finally in. Top Alcohol Dragster Driver Kate Harker from Gainesville, Ga. came from the No. 2 Qualifier to take victory with a time of 5.411 seconds at 265.43 mph over Vernon, Texas, resident James Thompson. Jay Payne of Claremont, Calif., took his Top Alcohol Funny Car to the winners circle with a time 5.835 seconds at 249.81 mph.

In other action Craig Bourgeois of Metarie, La., Took top honors in Competition Eliminator with a time of 7.024 seconds at 166.91 mph. Hammond, La., resident Slate Cummings fell one win short of victory in Super Stock with a loss to James Paul of Ft. Worth, Texas. In Stock Eliminator, Mike Cotton from Broken Arrow, Okla., powered his '73 Duster to victory.

Chuck Prejean Jr. from Brusley, La., took the trophy home in Super Comp with a time of 8.996 seconds. While in Super Gas Waxahachie, Texas, resident Craig Anderson took the checkered flag in his '63 Corvette. A time of 10.943 seconds was good enough for Regan Wilson of Tyler, Texas, to take get the win in Super Street . Ben Brown from Irving, Texas, twisted the wrist on his '05 Hayabusa harder then anyone else earning him top honors in Sportsman Motorcycle. Bert Prejean from St. Amant, La., was close enough to smell victory but fell to Corinth, Miss., resident Corey Glidewell. And in Top Dragster Jason Covington from Center, Texas, wheeled his dragster to a time of 7.265 seconds at 184.07 mph.

South Central Division racers head to Thunder Valley for the last event in the South Central NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, Oct 12-14.
