Rain Won't Dampen Spirits of Troy Coughlin

Troy Coughlin entered the rescheduled Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals on the outside looking in to the quick sixteen field of Pro Stock Saturday morning. Early rain gave way to cool overcast conditions by afternoon.

Troy took full advantage of the good conditions wheeling his Jeg's Mail Order Cavalier deep into the field with a solid pass of 6.770 seconds at 202.21 mph. Afternoon showers returned after Saturday's first session and continued through the evening.

Qualifying was suspended and the field was set after it became apparent that little to no relief from the persistent precipitation was insight. For the second weekend in a row, Troy and his JEG'S Mail Order machine found themselves near the top of the qualifying page going into eliminations on Sunday.

"We are pretty excited about the performance of the JEG'S Mail Order team," explained Troy. "We were fortunate that the skies cleared long enough to get a run in today. Now that we are in the show, we will focus our efforts on having a strong performance tomorrow."

Troy will begin his quest for his second Pro Stock win at Reading from the fourth qualifying position. He faces off against Gene Wilson in first round action on Sunday.
